Philly Cheesesteak Sandwich

The Philly Cheesesteak is a delicious sandwich that has become a staple of Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. The sandwich consists of thinly sliced steak, melted cheese, grilled onions, and a roll. It is a simple yet delicious combination that has made the Philly Cheesesteak a hit around the world.

Ingredients
  

  • 1.5 lbs. beef (rib eye preferred)
  • 1 pc. green bell pepper
  • 1 pc. yellow onion
  • 1/2 lb. mushroom
  • 4 slices povolone cheese
  • 2 T. oil
  • salt to taste
  • pepper to taste
  • 4 hoagie rolls

Instructions
 

  • Slice ribeye into thin strips. Season both sides with salt and pepper.
  • Cut the bell pepper and onion into long strips, and the mushrooms into bite-sized pieces.
  • In a large skillet, heat the oil over medium-high heat. Add onions, bell peppers and mushrooms to the skillet. Sautee until all veggies are golden brown. Remove and set aside.
  • Add slices of steak into the pan in one layer to sear, 1-2 minutes, then flip and sear the other side. Add the cooked veggies to the skillet and stir to combine. Top with cheese slices and set aside for a minute to allow the cheese to melt.
  • Stuff the mixture into toasted or untoasted hoagie buns. Serve right away and enjoy!
