10 Ways to Declutter Your Kitchen
We all love having our kitchens clean and organized, but it is not always easy to achieve this goal for many reasons, like lack of time, lack of motivation, or simply because we are overwhelmed by the sheer number of things that require our attention.
If you are not sure where to start, or simply want to learn a few tricks on how to do it better, we are going to show you some tips that will dramatically improve your chances of success in decluttering your kitchen:
1.) Start by throwing out as much junk as you can. Toss out what is broken or no longer useful. Some things might just be trash, and some might belong in other parts of the house or even in another room.
2.) Do not try to do an entire room in one night. Finish out small chunks so you don’t get stressed out and give up.
3.) You can free up a lot of space by not having every piece of cooking equipment available at all times. For example, if you never bake in your home and rarely make anything on the stove, then you probably do not need the mixer and a lot of pots and pans in your kitchen. You can store these items out of sight but close enough that they are easy to access when needed.
4.) Label your containers so all members of your household know where things go and no one will eat something they don’t like because they misplaced it in unfamiliar territory.
5.) Take inventory of your kitchen to see where you might want to add storage and if you need to buy anything.
6.) Organize your kitchen drawers by storing your utensils together, for example all kitchen knives, canning jars and other items in one drawer. This will help you to keep everything organized and easy to find.
7.) Donate items that don’t have a purpose, that you no longer use.
8.) Set up a system to keep your kitchen organized. This will save you time so that you do not have to spend so much time doing things like looking for something when it is right in front of your face.
9.) Make a clean kitchen checklist of everything that needs to be done each week or day, so you know exactly what you need to do when it’s time to tackle the kitchen again.
10.) Finally, go back through your space and clean anything that is not easy to see but is often still messy. For example: behind stove tops or in corners.
This list is not a definitive one, but it gives you some ideas on how to start decluttering your kitchen and get it back in order. Share these tips with your family and friends. This will be a great way to start their new year off with success and they might find some of these tips very useful!
